A
new company formed by Gary Gunn, successful race car
constructor and Jonathan Loader, Sports 2000 competitor
to produce an all new Sports 2000 Pro Series car.
Gary
Gunn has produced four different race cars previously,
the most successful being the Gunn TS5 raced last year
in National Supersports by former British Kart Champion
Neil Burroughs.
Last
year Neil achieved two front rows, four top three finishes
and the lap record at Donnington Park.
Gary
currently looks after four cars in the Sports 2000 Pinto
series.
Jonathan
Loader runs a successful shopfitting business and has
raced for eight years. He won the Sports 2000 Class
B Championship in 2000 and moved up to Class A in the
middle the 2001 season. He achieved five podium finishes
including a win at Zandvoort.
The
Car
The
Gunn PS2 is a development of Gary's successful National
Supersports design adapted to Sports 2000 Pro Series
regulations incorporating the new Ford Duratec engine.
| Chassis: |
The
space frame is constructed from Tig welded CDS tubing
for greater strength and rigidity. The design now
includes an aluminium honeycomb deformable pedal
box. |
| Suspension:
|
The
pull rod suspension system all round has been developed
from the years of experience gained with National
Supersports.
Quantum dampers fitted to our prototype give the
team the adjustablity to enable the car to be tailored
to the driver's requirements.
The cast uprights are designed to be interchangeable
side to side to keep costs down and reduce the need
for spares. |
| Brakes:
|
Ten
inch vented discs and Wilwood four pot calipers
all round, for fine adjustment there is a driver's
brake bias. |
| Gearbox: |
A
four or five speed gearbox according to the regulations
will be connected to our in-house built adapter
which allows us to optimise the weight distribution
and wheel base. |
| Aerodynamics: |
Through
development with our 1/8 scale model we have designed
a body shape with low frontal area to use the air
most effectively to cool brakes and generate down
force without too much drag. |
| Bodywork: |
GRP
as standard but also available in Carbon Kevlar.
Our prototype will run with a full underfloor and
rear venturi. |
